The local government unit (LGU)-San Carlos through the City Tourism Office started the 3-day Vamos Drumbeating and Festival Routine Workshop today, June 5-7, at the SCC Multi-purpose Hall, Park Marina.

At least 40 local drummers from the 18 barangays of the city participated. Resource speaker from Palompon, Leyte Jaybe Demetrio taught them the introduction to basic drum rudiments, basic hand exercises, roll rudiments, Biddle rudiments, flam rudiments, drag rudiments, and festival music routines.

Demetrio said the workshop aimed at upgrading the drummer’s musicianship, especially in creating musical pieces; adding the workshop is important as it will serve as the foundation for their style and routine.

He also advises drummers to practice more to strengthen their foundation and enhance their talents.

Carlstone Tribe of Barangay 3 members Romar Español, 15 years old, and Zhyron Estimar, 14 years old stressed they’re happy to join the workshop, and are looking forward to learning other instruments and musical pieces; they thanked LGU-San Carlos and the City Tourism Office for the initiative.
